Physics is entering a “Magic Moment” which will change the way we view and understand the world and the wider universe. The search for the so called “God Particle” which would explain why matter has mass and there is gravity in the universe is near. If the sub-atomic particle known as the Higgs boson exists as theory predicts it does, then the large hadron collider experiment will detect it shortly. However, if the experiment fails to find evidence of the Higgs, then it means that something even more mysterious must explain mass and gravity. This would inevitably lead to the abandonment of the golden rules of physics.
What are the consequences of the concept of interdependence on cosmological ideas in Physics ? The concept of interdependence implies that the elements of the conventional reality we are all familiar with do not possess an existence that is permanent and autonomous. This thing exists because something else exists, that happens because this has occurred. Nothing can exist by itself and be its own cause.
Everything depends on everything else. Suppose that there is an entity that exists independently of all the others. This implies that it is not produced by a cause, that is, either it has always existed or it does not exist at all. Such an entity will be unchanging since it cannot act on others and others cannot act on it. The world of phenomena could not function. Thus interdependence is essential for phenomena to manifest themselves.Because the concept of interdependence implies that nothing can exist by itself and be its own cause, it goes against the idea of a creative principle, a First Cause or a God that is permanent, all-powerful, that has no other cause than itself, and which created the universe. In the same vein,this hypothesis rejects the idea that the universe can be born out of nothing - a creation ex-nihilo - because the universe has to depend on something else to emerge. If the universe was created, it is because there was a potentiality already present. The coming into being of the universe is merely the realization of that potentiality. One can thus interpret the Big Bang as the manifestation of the phenomenal world emerging from an infinite potentiality already in existence. In a poetic language, Academics speak about of “particles of space” which carry in them the potentiality of matter. This is strongly reminiscent of the vacuum filled with energy that is thought to have given birth the material content of the universe in the modern Big Bang theory. Material phenomenon and things are not “created” in the sense that they go from a state of non-existence to one of existence. Rather they go from an unrealized state to a realized state. Once it has come into existence, the universe goes through a series of cycles, each composed of 4 stages: birth, evolution, death and a state where the universe is pure potentiality but has not manifested yet itself. This cyclic universe has no beginning nor an end.
The microcosm and the macrocosm are built on the same plan. Just as the individual soul is encased in the living body, so is the universal Soul in the Living energy of Nature. The objective universe, is embracing nature. This covering of the one [Soul] by the other [Nature] is analogous to the relation between an idea and the word expressing it: they are one and the same; and it is only by a mental abstraction that one can distinguish them. Thought is impossible without words. Therefore, in the beginning was the Word etc.
This dual aspect of the Universal Soul is eternal. So what we perceive or feel is this combination of the Eternally Formed and the Eternally Formless.It was in 2007,when Diver & Aguilar first started exploring the realms of high speed photography and special effects with their projects “light Mode Phantasm” & “Explosions” .
Magnum has developed a technology,allowing them to include liquid filled chocolates into their Ice Creams. They Developed a new forming process based around continuous extrusions that allows them to shape in three dimensions whilst dosing the inclusions.
Photographers Diver & Aguilar,were commissioned by Lola,to explore the possibilities of this concept.Producing “Art” by the creative reformulation of the ingredients. Testing the Big Bang theory,that everything is born out of matter,”we have created worlds within worlds,where anything is possible”.Firstly to imagine the possibilities , then to create the event,the artists worked with various techniques to capture their vision.
Working with Detonators, Small explosives, High Speed trigger and Flash Photography at speeds of up to 1/2000 of a second.The calculations can be fed into the computer to predict the exact moment and therefore depth of the explosion or effect they wish to generate.
The results,Unique infinite permutations from a world of chaos that paradoxically could only be created through very precise and technical calculations.The concept of Chaos has already had a lasting effect on science,It is only 50 years since Edward Lorenz first experiments on sensitive dependence and yet many academics believe that twentieth century science will be known for only three theories: Relativity,Quantum Mechanics and Chaos.“The flapping of a single butterfly’s wings today produces a tiny change in the state of atmosphere.Over a period of time,what the atmosphere actually does diverges from what it would of done.So in a month’s time, a tornado that would of devastated St louis doesn’t happen.Or maybe one that wasn’t going to happen does. “
Chaos theory has changed the way we perceive physics, no longer is it simply the study of subatomic protons in a billion dollar particle accelerator. Its presence now visible in all things universally; from nature and music to modern art.
The Campaign was the brain child of Lola Agency in Madrid and the visuals will run as an all media print & digital motion campaign in over 30 countries.
